Dale View is one of five cottages at Cotterill Farm, a 12 acre non-working farm with fields, meadows and a small wood, but in particular with spectacular views. There are two wild flowers meadows at Cotterill Farm, one of which borders a nature reserve through which a footpath leads after just over a mile to the Rive Dove (at Wolfscote Dale). One mile downstream along a good riverside path is Dovedale, the most famous area of the Derbyshire Peak District. The cottages are located off a quiet country lane between the highly popular village of Hartington and its smaller, quieter neighbour, Biggin. Both villages have pubs serving full meals cafes and a church. There is also an excellent restaurants about a mile away. Biggin has a lovely Hall where excellent cream teas are sold.
Numerous footpaths surround the 12 acres of Cotterill Farm,, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles, is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is less than 1 mile from us. Two further trails, the High peak trail and the Manifold Valley trail (both of roughly similar distance), are within 3 miles. These three tracks are ideal for family cycling, as is the network of quiet minor roads, which can be accessed at numerous points along the trails. Sustrans route 54 passes within yards of Cotterill Farm.
Buxton , Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek and Chatsworth House are all about 11 miles away on the edge of the Peak District at different points on the compass, confirming the owners claim to be very much in the heart of the White Peak, this being the area of the Peak District of rolling hills, dry stone walls villages and dales (The Dark Park is mainly moorland)There is an enormous amount to do in the area, almost certainly more within say 30 minutes drive than anywhere else in the UK.
