Aberturret Cottage

Today Crieff is a charming mix of old and new, reflecting its changing role throughout the centuries. There is a pleasing selection of welcoming restaurants and public houses, an interesting choice of independent shops specialising in a wide variety of Scottish crafts and produce and everywhere there is an air of unhurried tranquility.
WALKING:
Thanks to the Perth and Kinross Council Countryside Trust, there are now eight walks (several on the doorstep of Aberturret Cottage) which form part of an extensive paths network for walkers, cyclists and riders. Ranging from one to eight miles and covering a wide variety of terrain, the Crieff Walks embrace some of the area's finest scenery. For the more ambitious walker or climber, Perthshire has many challenging Munroes not too far away.
GOLF:
With more than 40 courses to choose from, Perthshire needs no introduction for the knowledgeable golfer. Golf is a way of life here with every town and village seeming to have its own golf course.
The sheer variety is remarkable; scenic Highland layouts, idyllic parkland settings, world-famous centres and undiscovered gems. On the doorstep of Aberturret Cottage is the Crieff Hydro Golf Centre for a spot of driving practice or a quick 9 holes, or perhaps a trip to St Andrews to play on the famous course there.
HISTORIC INTEREST:
There are so many interesting Castles, Stately Homes and other places to visit in the area, the problem will be deciding how many you have time for! In Perthshire you will find a host of pretty villages, linked by glorious scenery and breathtaking views. Pitlochry, so beloved of Queen Victoria, Killiecrankie and the 'Soldier's Leap', Blair Atholl with its 'fairytale' Castle (home to the UK's only private army), Dunkeld with its historic cathedral and picturesque 'Little Houses' (in the care of the National Trust for Scotland), Fortingall with its pretty thatched roof houses and 2000 year old yew tree, Innerpeffray, home to the oldest free lending library in the country (founded 1680) and Balquhidder, last resting place of 'Rob Roy' MacGregor.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Safari ParkIf you are coming to Aberturret with younger children you will find plenty of things to do as a family. Within a short drive there is a wildlife centre, a safari and leisure park and a farmlife centre. Crieff has a leisure centre, swimming pool and beautiful parkland with riverside walks. In Perth there is the go-karting centre and the MacBeth experience (at Bankfoot).
