The South Hams of Devon and the Dartmouth area has everything you need for a holiday; whether you are looking for a âbucket and spadeâ holiday, one packed with activities, historical interest or wildlife spotting or simply a quiet beach or cove to explore, it is all there. The South West Coastal path passes through Kingswear and coastal walks are endless. Cruises up the beautiful and unspoilt Dart valley to Totnes or out of the harbour and across Torbay to Torquay are available â a favourite is the âround robinâ cruise to Totnes, from there an open-topped bus ride to Paignton and then return to Kingswear by steam train. Sailing is possible through charters, day sails, and yacht, dinghy sailing or windsurfing lessons. The area benefits from a relatively unique climate due to the Gulf Stream and the mild winters and warm summers make it a wonderful place to grow unusual plants - there are 2 National Trust gardens within (fairly strenuous) walking distance.
