Cairngorm Putting Green
A golf putting green with a difference is one of the attractions at the top Scottish golf course at Forbes of Kingennie.
The Cairngorms Golf Putting Green at Kingennie Golf Course has been designed to emulate the actual Cairngorms Mountain Range right in the heart of Scotland. Although a test for even the most seasoned golfer, it is also there to help educate children, visitors and locals alike.
Five of Scotland’s nine 4000 ft summits lie within the range, plus a further nine mountains higher than 3,500ft and four more exceeding 3000ft.
There are also two lochs: Loch Avon, which lies at the base of Cairngorm mountain itself, and Loch Einich, which lies at the base of the mountain Sgor Gaoith.
The USGA putting surface allows everybody to play up Glens, Corries, Passes and around Lochs that they may never normally have a chance to do - and all on a Scottish golf course in the gentle Angus countryside, near Dundee.
Where else can you climb 18 munros, walk 7 Glens and as many Corries, Passes and Valleys in under an hour?
Fishing at Kingennie :
Kingennie has trout fishing (rainbow, blue, gold, brown) , with bait and fly-fishing on four well-stocked pools year-round. Catches vary according to the season and pool, from fighting trout of 1lb to 'old and cunning' fish of over 20lbs. The pools have fishing piers and some also have guard rails. Stocking takes place weekly, and details of latest catches are available on the Kingennie Fishings website. There is an on-going Fishing Competition with cash prize. Kingennie attracts around 10,000 anglers each year. Game-fishing can also be arranged on the rivers North Esk, Tay and Dee, and local lochs.
Angus Thistle Maze :
The Angus Thistle maze is the latest addition to the Forbes of Kingennie visitor centre.

- There are two types of beech used Copper(Fagus Sylvatica "Purpurea Latifolia") and Green (Fagus Sylvatica)
- Path width 1.5meters
- Hedge Width 900mm
- Estimated number of beech plants used 3,736 of which around 456 are copper beech.
- There is a fun trail of question through out the maze which is a great test for any family. Each question is clearly marked with a picture and white background through out the maze.

A visit to the ancient lands of Angus and the city of Dundee combines a landscape of unspoiled Highland glens, beautiful rugged coastline and a vibrant cosmopolitan city, with no shortage of activities in Scotland to chose from.
The Overgate Shopping Centre : There's nothing quite like the Overgate experience in Dundee. Set against a spectacular curved glass wall, the only single sided mall in Europe houses some of the most famous fashion brands in the world. Gap, FCUK, Mango, Next, Warehouse, all sit comfortably alongside WHSmith, H&M and Sports World. And you can sit comfortably too, in the relaxing environments of our balcony cafes. (With over 60 high street brands for your perusal you'll be forgiven for the occasional break).
Dundee Contemporary Arts: Is a world-class centre for the development and exhibition of contemporary art and culture.
Monikie Country Park: With its reservoirs, woodland and parkland, is an ideal location for a visit to the countryside. The scenic surroundings offer many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors at any time of the year. The Park is staffed during most daylight hours.
Forfar Loch Country Park: Situated on the west side of Forfar. With woodland, grassland and wetland habitats the park is a haven for wildlife and visitors throughout the year.
Crombie Country Park: Is 102 hectares in area, which includes Crombie Loch as well as broadleaf and conifer woodlands. With its scenic loch and woodlands it is a haven for visitors whatever the season.
Camperdown Wildlife Centre: The centre is open all year round - March - Sept - Mon- Sun 10 am - 4.30 pm; Oct - Feb - 10 am - 3.30 pm. Camperdown Wildlife Centre offers a great day out for children young and old. There is plenty to do and see at the zoo with a fantastic Pirates Play Area and small Carnival area.
Glamis Castle: Explore the legacy of ancient peoples, kings and queens, adventurers and inventors. This area is also Scotland’s ancient and historic heartland, whose roots begin with some of Scotland’s ancient people - the Picts, the early Scottish Kings and the Declaration of Independence in 1320 and the ancestral home of the late Queen Mother at Glamis Castle, which is open to visitors.
Sensation: Visit Sensation and enjoy a fun hands-on experience for the whole family as you explore the world through six zones themed around sound, touch, light, taste and smell, temperature and position, with over 80 fascinating interactive exhibits. Then come face-to-face with RoboX and the robots of Roborealm. Great fun for both children and adults!
Broughty Ferry Beach: This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag - an environmental award given to beach operators who make a special effort to manage their coastal environment and beaches. To attain the Blue Flag, the community and its beach operators have to fulfil 29 criteria covering water quality, environmental education and information provision, environmental and safety services.
Discovery Point : All weather, multi-award-winning Five-star attraction. Explore Captain Scott’s famous polar exploration Ship Discovery. There are state of the art audio visual and multimedia exhibitions, a gift shop, café and guided tours are available.
Broughty Ferry Castle: Sitting imposingly at the mouth of the River Tay. Built in 1496 on a rocky promontory, it has faced many sieges and battles. These have left their scars - marks made by cannon shot are still visible. During the 18th Century it fell to ruin, to be rebuilt in the 1860s as part of the Crimean War effort. Broughty Castle Museum houses fascinating displays on the life and times of Broughty Ferry, its people, the environment and the wildlife that live close by. Situated at the mouth of the Tay, the Castle has a magnificent view over the river and is only minutes away from Broughty Ferry Beach and Esplanade. There is always something to see and do, with a changing programme of events, activities and displays.
