Glenahuil - Ardlamont, Tighnabruaich, Argyll

Tighnabruaich and Kames are pretty coastal villages (voted prettiest in Stirlingshire/ Argyll in 2004 ) where there is a 9 hole links golf course overlooking the beautiful Kyles of Bute. Sailing is excellent in the area, and one can bring your own boat and launch it at the slipway in Kames, or take a course orday sail through the local sailing school, where they also offer windsurfing.
One can arrange deep sea fishing in the village as well as fly fishing in the season, and there are 3 excellent hotel dining rooms in the village as well as a restaurant and tea rooms.
There is an art gallery/ store in the village and horse riding from the Estate at the bottom of the track to Glenahuil.
There are plenty of hill walking trails and many day trips are possible. Loch Lomond is 11/4 hours away, where there are paddle boats, and steamer trips down the loch or one can climb Ben Lomond. Inverary is less than an hour where there is the castle, a restored jail and many pubs/ eateries.
Crarae Gardens is a beautiful botanic gardens in an estate
on the Kintyre Peninsula where one can also play golf, take the ferry, to Arran, explore the open air folk museum, or go horse riding or go to the wilder Atlantic side and down to Campbeltown or explore some archeological sites. The ferry from Portavadie( just 4 miles from Glenahuil )goes to the fishing port of Tarbert where all the yachts collect for the "Around Arran sailing race" on the May holiday weekend. Just a mile from Glenahuil one can park the car and walk over moors (15 mins) to a mile wide sandy beach which is great for beach games and shelling. There is a lavendar farm nearby where they do teas and have a gift shop in the season too. The area is so beautiful and peaceful it is easy to relax and feel refreshed.
The nearest town is Dunoon, 30 miles away, where there is a castle museum and an indoor swimming pool with super slide for those rainy days. There is also an outstanding Botanic Gardens, a Bird Sanctuary and a marina.
