The East Devon region offers many possibilities. A five minute level walk takes you to the Victorian seaside town of Seaton for shops, pubs, restaurants and tearooms. A Seaton tram ride up the Axe valley lets you watch the estuary and its wildlife unfold.
You could wander along the beach or stroll to Axmouth, along the river, for good pub food. Avid walkers will find a huge variety of caostal and countryside paths.
The Jurassic Coast beaches are world famous, and golf, birdwatching, sailing, fishing and horse riding are nearby. The villages and towns of East Devon and Dorset and the historic Cathedral City of Exeter are within easy reach, with excellent local bus services.

Harbour Retreat can be reached by road or by rail and bus via Exeter. There are good local bus services with easy entry doors. We have an information sheet with detailed directions. The nearest town is Seaton which is a level 5 minute walk away and which has supermarket shopping, a variety of eating places and several public toilets.
Unfortunately the Harbour Retreat is not suitable for guests with limited mobility as it is on the second floor. Visitors with limited vision are advised that they should be accompanied for their own safety.
The House, at 7 Trevelyan Road, Seaton, Devon is of Edwardian design with brick and tile construction and UPVC windows. It is divided into four apartments.
There is one designated and marked parking space off the road adjacent to the front door of the house. The car park is tarmac and there is a level path of 20 feet to the front door, which has three steps with non slip mats. There is an intercom button to allow access to the house. The entrance has night time lighting. The front door is wooden with single key access. Key arrangements are made by letter prior to arrival and access is unlimited. There is a communal hallway which is evenly carpeted, having a total of thirty stairs leading to the Harbour Retreat. The stairs are wide with standard gradients and handrails are good. There are four resting landings. There is uniform, bright hallway lighting on a time switch. Apartments are clearly marked with visual signage. There is good colour contrast on doorways, banisters and skirting. There are audible fire alarm systems in the house.
An inspection for fire risk is carried out at six monthly intervals by a qualified officer from Ace Fire Alarms, providing the House with a certificate and log book for the communal area.
Harbour Retreat has one bedroom and four rooms in total, with level entrances and standard door widths. Natural light quality is good. There is clear visual signage with written and diagrammatic display, both in notices and a handbook. Information can be obtained in advance in alternative formats if needed.
There is good quality carpeting in the hall, sitting room and bedroom with some rugs and slip mats. There is bright ambient lighting with plentiful additional variable lighting.
The bedroom has uniform pastel décor with a king size bed. The sitting room has contrasting décor with the exception of glass coffee tables. Seating is low level with soft cushioning. There is a standard TV/CD/DVD setup.
The shower room and toilet is adjacent to the bedroom and is approximately 8 x 6 feet. It has non slip tiles with underfloor heating and the décor is neutral. The shower enclosure has a raised sill with a wall mounted thermostatic unit with detachable head. There is a handbasin with lever taps and drain plugs. The toilet is at standard height with push button flush.
Kitchen Equipment is modern and the décor is well contrasted in pastels, granite and chrome. Water is thermostatically controlled and there is a lever tap.
The work surfaces are at a standard height with freezer, fridge, dishwasher, washer/drier and cupboards beneath. Small appliances and microwave are freestanding on worktops. Plugs are labelled and there is a clear diagrammed instruction sheet for the cooker, which has a halogen hob and electric oven.
The kitchen is spacious with a table and two chairs at raised height. The floor is non slip bamboo laminate. There is excellent natural, general ambient and additional spot lighting.
There are audible smoke alarms, an extinguisher, fire blanket and clear instructions with diagrams of evacuation and assembly procedures. Our housekeeper, although not resident, has good awareness of accessibility issues.
Letting agreements do not allow pets, children or smokers to use the apartment.
