Hen Beudy is the annexe to Parcmaenllwyd Farmhouse, situated just outside the quaint village of Llansaint, surrounded by fields and with an uninterrupted view of the sea. Great for a romantic break, a sightseeing holiday or as a luxury base to enjoy the many outdoor pursuits available in the area.
The Accommodation
This 5 Star accommodation mixes the best of old and new with its vaulted ceiling, old oak beams and its new contemporary and luxurious fittings.
Underfloor heating throughout guarrantees you will be snug and warm whatever the weather.
Wifi and SKY TV will keep you in touch with the world if you so choose.
The Sun Room has the wow factor with floor to celing windows and full width folding doors leading onto the garden and barbecue area.
Lounge/kitchen with three seater sofa bed, flatscreen Sky TV, coffee table, DVD player, radio/CD player, books and games. Free wifi. Fully fitted and equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar and stools, electric oven, ceramic hob with extractor fan, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer etc.
Lie in a vaulted bedroom in a luxurious super kingsize bed enjoying the beautiful view over Carmarthen Bay. The 'zip and link' beds can also be two large singles. The bedroom also has bedside tables, a wardrobe, dressing table and stool and chair.
The fully tiled bathroom consists of a bath and shower, sink and wc.
Disabled wet room facilities available on request.
Outside is a small walled and gated front garden with bench and table, laid with chippings and decorated with pots, and paved pathway to front door.
To the rear is a large garden overlooking Carmarthen Bay with French doors leading onto a decked patio area, with patio furniture and a barbecue.
Accessibility
The property is suitable for wheelchair access as all rooms are on the same level. There is plenty of off-road parking. Secure lock up for cycles.
Notes about the accommodation
The property has double glazing throughout, an electric hot water system and underfloor heating throughout, and as it is newly built is snug and warm at all times.
A strict no-smoking policy applies inside the property, but obviously no problem outside.
Children are welcome. Pets are welcome by arrangement, with an extra returnable deposit of £50 per animal.
Disabled and wheelchair friendly. The annexe is on one level and we have the extra facility of a fully tiled luxury wet room with wc, shower and basin accessed via the sun room.
Transport
Local bus services to and from Llansaint, Ferryside, Carmarthen, Kidwelly, Llanelli, and Swansea.
Main line and local train services operate to Ferryside, Carmarthen and Swansea and beyond, ideal for cyclists and non-car users.
The town of Carmarthen is 9 miles to the north of Llansaint, with its local produce markets, shopping centre, 24 hour superstore, banks, restaurants, shops etc.
Approximate distances: Kidwelly 1 mile, Ferryside 1 mile, Pembrey Country Park 3 miles, Llanelli 10 miles, Swansea 31 miles, Cardiff 70 miles.
Special Breaks
Reiki, relaxation and meditation break - Lynda is a Reiki practitioner and teacher and on request will do special breaks for up to four people. Spend a few days enjoying rest, relaxation and healing or alternatively a teaching weekend where you would receive Reiki, Reiki teachings and be attuned. Sewin, salmon and trout fishing guidance breaks - Anthony is a keen fisherman with many years experience in river/still water fishing and on request will provide transport, organise permits, accompany and guide one or two people, catering for all skill levels. Llansaint
Llansaint is a small village but famous for the cockles that have been harvested from Carmarthen Bay for centuries. The tradition was of women supplementing the household income by gathering by hand and then transporting the shellfish on donkeys, this only came to an end in 1973. "Any man marrying a Llansaint cockle-woman was considered a lucky man and set up for life."
There are two pubs just 5 minutes walk from the annexe. The Kings Arms offers good wholesome evening meals, real ale (CAMRA awarded), live music most Thursdays and a Poets and Pints evening every 3rd Friday of the month. The Joiners a traditional Welsh public house, just the choice if you like to play pool, darts etc. Does a great Sunday Lunch.
Ferryside is 7 minutes drive away along the coast road. The Ferry Cabin restaurant/café with great fish and chips, The White Lion pub, post office (with ATM), and general store all in the centre of the village with the railway station and bus stops all in close proximity. The River Towy Yacht Club is based at the local beach and offers holiday membership, with slipway, changing, storage and bar facilities. The Three Rivers hotel is on the outskirts of the village and has a Health Suite and swimming pool.
Local attractions
Carmarthenshire is home to many of South West Wales' top attractions and is known as the Garden of Wales - not only due to the beautiful countryside but to its many wonderful gardens. The National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Aberglasney, Dinefwr Park and Norwood Gardens to name but a few.
The county is also home to an abundance of historic attractions including many castles:- Kidwelly Castle and spectacular Carreg Cennen Castle on the edge of the Brecon Becons.
Laugharne, home of Dylan Thomas with its own castle, with many good restaurants and the poets famous boat house and museum. In Kidwelly we also have the Industrial Musuem.
For the more energetic the nearby Pembrey Country Park with eight miles of golden sands edged by a belt of sand dunes has an array of attractions and facilities.
Extensive grassland and forest adjoin the dune system. There are clear panoramic views across Carmarthen Bay to the Gower and Pembrokeshire coast. It offers great picnic and barbecue areas, a ski slope, crazy golf, pitch and putt courses, miniature train rides, adventure and play areas and GoApe adventure area.
It is linked together by 22kms of the Millenium Coastal Path/Cycleway to other places of interest including the National Wetlands Centre of Wales,with over 600 species of ducks, geese, swans, flamingos, plus other waders and seabirds.
Payment
A deposit of £80 per week, is required on booking. The balance of your booking fee is requested at least 4 weeks before arrival. If you are bringing a pet please let us know. A £50 per week extra returnable deposit is required, added to the balance, 4 weeks before arrival. If you require a cot, high chair or baby's bath, please let us know when booking. A welcome pack, heating, bed linen, bath and hand towels are all included in the tariff (beach towels are not provided).
