Access Statement for Lynton Guest House


Introduction

Amanda & Geoff, owners of Lynton Guest House, are committed to ensuring that everything in their power is done to assist any person with physical or mobility problems to have as comfortable and enjoyable a stay as is possible.

Pre-Arrival

• The bus / coach station is only a 5 minute walk from Lynton House.
• The main train station for the town is 10 minutes walk away.
• We have a web site showing actual photographs of our rooms and views from the house.

• Information about public transport, distance and accessibility.
• Distance to town centre and notice about steep hill on route to the Harbour front and town centre beach (walking & by car).
• Details of collection service for guests / visitors from the local airport.
• Details of suitability of rooms for guests with visual / hearing impairments who are unaccompanied or accompanied - with particular emphasis on the safety of all our guests.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• We have four car parking spaces in total and unrestricted parking on the roadside opposite the premises(subject to availability) with low kerbs and no gradients.
• Assistance with luggage is always offered to all our guests.
• Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome.
• The entrance to the house is accessed by a pathway running alongside the car park at the front of the property. It is illuminated by street lights and the properties illuminated outdoor sign and porch light. There is a step up into the property.
• There are no designated disabled parking bays.
• We are sorry we cannot reserve parking spaces but we will do our utmost to help any guests who have any impairments or disabilities.

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

• We do not have an alternative entrance.
• Once inside the front door there is another part glazed inner door
• We do keep the front door locked for security purposes.
• The front door will be answered by us on answering the door bell.
• There is adequate lighting in the hallway and on the stairs.
• Guests are escorted to their rooms and facilities are fully explained.
• Corridors are fully carpeted.
• We do not have restricted opening hours. Guests are issued with a main door key along with their room key. All we ask is that guests show consideration for others during their stay with us, both in the communal areas and within their own rooms.
• There is a door off the hallway leading into the sitting room which is locked at night for security.
• The second door leads into the dining room which is only accessible at meal times.
• There is a door bell situated on the right hand side of the dining room door, approximately three feet off the floor for any guests requiring help or attention.


Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

• The main hall is accessed through manual doors, as are all of the bedroom doors.
• Emergency procedures are explained in a notice on the back of each bedroom door. In case of emergency, all guests are asked to meet at a safe distance away from the property so that we can instantly assess whether everyone is safely out of the property.
• The house is on three levels and guests have access to all the levels. The bedrooms are situated on the first and second floors.
• All the flooring on the stairs and in the corridors is carpeted.
• We do offer free Wi-Fi access. Please ask for details.

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

• The public toilet is situated on the first floor landing.
• There is no ground floor toilet.
• The facility is unisex.
• The route is a flight of stairs covered in carpet.
• There is also a wash hand basin and towel rail.

Additional Information

• Evacuation procedures are provided in all rooms.
• The guest house operates a complete no-smoking policy.
• You are welcome to store any medication or special dietary food in our fridge providing they are secure and clearly marked.

Future Plans
There are no major changes planned for Lynton House although we are constantly updating furnishings as part of an ongoing refurbishment plan.
