Visitors to West Wales are often surprised by the many diverse activities available – from splendid sandy beaches for those looking for a relaxing holiday to hiking and canoeing for those looking for more adventure.


Cardigan Bay is renowned for the resident dolphins and grey seals that populate the cliff edges. To view with your own boat, there are several launching ramps for small boats.

For Casual walkers or the more adventurous hikers, the coastal footpaths are ideal and provide breathtaking views along the Cardigan Bay coastline through to the distant mountains of North Wales.



Whatever your tastes, the local attractions are endless – from visiting cheese making displays, woollen mills, nature reserves, potteries, castles, silver and gold mines, steam railways, the local chocolate factory or simply relaxing on the beach – the choice is yours.

Meadowview is situated on the banks of the River Teifi, which is renowned for its salmon, trout and sewin fishing. If you wish to test your fishing skills, licenses can be obtained locally at the Salmon Leap Gift Shop. The Teifi is the leading game fishing river in Wales and caters for all skills from the beginner through to fly-fishing expert.


No matter what the level or speed of the river, you will be able to fish between April 1st through to October 7th as the Teifi Trout Association allows, floating, spinning, worming and fly-fishing on the majority of its 24 miles of river banks.

Cenarth Attractions
Visit The National Coracle Centre with its unique collection of coracles from all over the world is located just a few hundred yards away from Meadowview in the grounds of the Cenarth 17th century flour mill which is alongside the Cenarth Falls. For centuries, Cenarth was the centre of coracle fishing and these boats are still made and used for salmon fishing in West Wales today. Coracles are normally associated with Wales but they have been used throughout the centuries for water transport and the museum collection includes examples from India, Iraq, Tibet, Vietnam and North America. During the summer, coracles are often on the river and rides can be arranged.

Then follow this with a cream tea at the adjacent Slate Shop Tea Rooms or maybe a meal and something a little stronger in either of the village’s two pubs
Cilgerran
The Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran bordering the River Teifi is approximately five miles away where the local wildlife can be viewed including badgers, otters, buzzards and even wild deer. After, take a short stroll to Cilgerran Castle and climb to the top of the battlements to look down into the National Nature Reserve of Cilgerran Gorge. If you are the adventurous type you can experience the Kayak Adventure – Fun Kayaking where you can learn the basics or improve your skills.

Poppit Sands
A vast sandy beach offering safe bathing for children, approximately two miles from the town of Cardigan.

For the more energetic, why not take a walk along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path which has its start at Poppit. Officially opened over thirty years ago, the 186 mile path is one of Britain’s National Trials, along some of the finest scenery in Europe.

New Quay


A small seaside town renowned for its quaintness. It offers safe bathing and there are also boat trips along the coast of Cardigan Bay to Birds Rock and the caves, Cwmtydu and Seals Bay. Magnificent scenery and wildlife.

On the road to New Quay, just past Synod Inn, visit the New Quay Honey Farm where you are able to see the bees working in a variety of natural habitats and in also man-made hives which open to show the mysteries and grand design of the bees’ nest.

Aberaeron
Visit the harbour and sample the local honey flavoured ice cream. Also, view the terraced houses with their ‘key stones’ over the front door structure, which was the trade mark of the builders of the time.

Caws Cenarth
Visit Caws Cenarth cheese factory and witness the making of this award-winning Welsh Farmhouse Caephilly cheese which is supplied to prestigious outlets and specialist shops throughout the United Kingdom.

Teifi Valley Narrow Gauge Railway, Henllan
On a branch line of the Great Western Railway serving the West Wales rural area, the Teifi Valley Railway at Henllan, near Newcastle Emlyn, offers visitors a splendid view of the Teifi Valley on its two mile journey through lovely countryside along the banks of the River Teifi
