Meldon is ideally situated for golfing, fishing, riding and sailing. Or you may prefer visiting stately homes and gardens, bird watching or leisurely driving around the countryside. Full details of these and other activities are available in the apartment.
Meldon is close to Cragside, built by a Tyneside industrialist, Sir William Armstrong. It was the first house lit by hydro-electric power and Sir William brought the railway to Rothbury to allow him to get to work. It is also close to Wallington, and Alnwick Castle and Gardens.
On a wet day you can go shopping at the Metro Centre, followed by drinks at the Millennium Bridge and lunch at the newly renovated Baltic Flour Mill. Or you could always venture further south to Tyneside and County Durham. English Christianity was cradled here, and the northern heart of the Industrial Revolution grew up on coal and steam. The pride of the North East, which flourishes in our great football teams, also flowers in a great celebration of our past – at such sites as Beamish – where the story of the region has literally been re-built.
