You have direct access to our ancient woodland nature reserve below the cottage. It has nearly two miles of river bank walks and a spectacular iron age hill fort to explore. Lots of wildlife to spot from red deer to otters, rare butterflies to buzzards.
The small and unspoilt market town of Dulverton is 10 minutes away with special shops for just about every need including a national award winning small butcher, a tearooms voted one of the best in the country, a cornucopia of a second hand book shop, a friendly and helpful tourist information centre and many antique shops to browse in.
The famous ancient clapper bridge, Tarr Steps, is 2 miles (or a delightful hour and a half walk) up river. Also close by are the pretty villages of Winsford and Withypool each with its own excellent pub, both of which are called The Royal Oak.
Porlock is our closest point on the coast and is a stunningly beautiful 20 minute drive across the moor.
