Old Hall is over 200 years old and is home to Mark, Sandra, their son Corban and their pets. Old Hall Cottage is our newly renovated holiday accommodation which is set in the large grounds of Old Hall, located at the South end of Hoy, close to the pretty Kirkhope Bay and Beach.
The accommodation sleeps up to 6 people. There are two bedrooms, one double with suitable wheelchair access and one triple room (double bed with a single bunk), plus a double sofa bed in the lounge area. An additional single bed can be added to the double room to make it into a family room also.
There's a fully equipped kitchen/lounge room including: gas hob, electric combination oven/microwave, fridge with freezer, comfy sofas, digital freeview TV, DVD player and DVD's, a CD player and plenty of books and games.
The spacious bathroom has a level entry shower and support rails for disabled access.
You are welcome to spend time in our large garden, which has quiet seating areas and panoramic views over the Scapa Flow and across the Pentland Firth to Scotland.
Enjoy playing games on our large lawns, or simply enjoy the flower beds, rockeries and the small pond.
The 'Mediterranean Corner' is ideal for summer barbeques and relaxing.
You are also welcome to take fruit, veg and herbs from our organic plot for your needs during your stay.
In winter, Hoy is just as beautiful with plenty to do and a warm, cosy cottage to come back to snuggle up and read, watch a movie or gaze at the unpolluted, bright night sky and you may be lucky enough to see the awesome Northern Lights.
Children and young people of all ages are very welcome. Having a toddler and grown up children of our own, we know how much stuff has to be hauled about with you. We try to be as child friendly as possible and hope to take the hassle out of holidaying with little ones. A travel cot/playpen, highchair, baby bath and stand and other childrens items are provided and we have some outdoor toys suitable for toddlers. We also have a large area suitable for ball games etc for older children and young people. The garden is ideal for games of hide and seek. If there are additional items of equipment that you require, please let us know and we will do our best to provide them.
We are very pet friendly and your well behaved pets are welcome at Old Hall Cottage free of charge. We have three dogs and a cat or our own who are happy to share their garden. There is a maximum of two guest pets allowed. Conditions apply. More details available on request.

Hoy is located in the southern isles of Orkney accessiable by Ro-Ro ferry from Houton and foot passenger ferry from Stronmess.
Old Hall cottage is in the South Walls area of the island which is mostly farm land plus large areas of Scottish Wildlife Trust land including The Hill of White Hamars, home to many varities of birds, including especially the barnacle geese and skua's. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and many rare wildflowers can also be found here. The coastal walks in this areas are rewarded with fantastic geological sites as the gloups plus a close up of seals, basking sharks and whales, including the wonderful orca's
The north of the island is hilly moorland which is a SSSI site and an RSPB bird reserve. Sandy Loch is home to the lovely red throated diver. Also here is the beautiful village of Rackwick with long sandy beach, stunning cliffs and is the start of a brilliant walk up to The Old Man of Hoy, a giant sea stack.
Hoy was an important naval base during the war years and has many interesting war memorial sites. The Scapa Flow Visitor Centre and Museum provides a detailed and facinating insite to life on the island during the wars with many interactive exhibits suitable for children.
Also on Hoy are the Martello towers, one of which is open to the public.
There are many sites of acrheological interest too. The Cantick Mound was recently excavated and found to be a burial site used in the both the neolithic and bronze ages.
Local attractions include the Gable End theatre with its regular film nights and concerts. There is a modern community centre with gym and pool as well as trditional scottish dancing and badminton.
Hoy is serviced by three pubs providing entertainment, great food and fabulous company.
Mainland Orkney is within easy access to Mainland Orkney and the isles so it is easy to get to see the other amazing sites orkney has to offer including St Magnus Cathedral, The Italian Chapel, Scara Brae, The Ring of Brodgar (Orkney's equivalnet of Stone Henge), The Pickaquoy Centre and many others.
