From Falmouth, the surrounding villages of Feock, Flushing, Mylor Bridge, Perranaworthal and Ponsanooth have the advantage of being about ten minutes drive to Falmouth and fifteen minutes to Truro.

The villages are centrally placed for reaching coasts to the North, South and West and have friendly local shops and country inns serving good food. These are notably the Norway Inn on the road from Truro, the waterside Pandora Inn on Restronguet creek and The Staghunt at Ponsanooth.

Probably Feocks finest feature is the beautiful Trelissick gardens (NT) positioned at the head of Fal estuary, the estate commands panoramic views over the area and has extensive park and woodland walks beside the river. At its heart is the tranquil garden, set on many levels and containing a superb collection of tender and exotic plants which bring colour throughout the year. The King Harry Ferry is well worth a trip from Feock to the Roseland Peninsular.

Flushing, situated across the harbour from Falmouth, is a quaint little village with picture-postcard narrow streets. Flushing makes a great base for boat enthusiasts and is well placed for exploring Cornwall. The village has two pubs, a Post Office and small village store, together with The Sticky Prawn fish restaurant and delightful views over the water. There is a passenger ferry which runs from Flushing Quay to Falmouth. Why not try the lovely circular walk from Flushing via Kiln Quay Beach around Trefusis headland to Mylor Harbour.

Mylor Bridge has a fantastic village stores with deli counter, a village pub, a greengrocer and butcher as well as a green area with child's playground. Mylor Harbour, a few minutes drive from Mylor Bridge, has a busy marina, sailing school, boat hire and watersports centre offering excellent boating facilities as well a shop/café, Castaways bar/restaurant and The Ganges restaurant.

The beautiful nature reserve of Kennal Vale at Ponsanooth makes a pleasant walk with historic interest, as it was once the site of a factory built in 1811 for manufacturing gunpowder and explosives for the thriving mining industry.

The nearby Bissoe valley has an amazing off road, coast to coast cycle trail with hire facilities.

The Argal Reservoir is a well established coarse fishery stocked with numerous carp and pike over 30lb, bream over 12lb, roach and rudd transferred from the former neighbouring College Lake which is now a nature reserve and has 65 acres of fly fishing for stocked rainbows. Season 1st April to 31st October. Boats are available along with an Allenard Mk II for wheelchair bound and handicapped anglers. There is a picnic area, facilities for the disabled, toilets, children's play area and wooded walks.
