Bamburgh Castle and beach At the coast, there is, of course, the tidal island of Lindisfarne, with its priory and castle. Or you can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands and see the celebrated bird-life and the Longstone Lighthouse, home of Grace Darling. Then there are the spectacular castles of Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh and miles and miles of unspoilt beaches (e.g. Bamburgh, Embleton Bay, Druridge Bay, Alnmouth and Low Newton-by-the-sea).

Alnwick CastleInland, and only a short drive away, is Alnwick Castle, the home of 'Harry Potter' (as well as the Duke of Northumberland), next to The Alnwick Garden.

Further afield, there are Kielder Water and Forest and 70 miles of Hadrian's Wall to explore along with all the forts, villages and scenery along the way.
