Poppy's Cottage, Abbotsbury nr Weymouth

Elworth, an ancient farming hamlet first mentioned in the Domesday Book, is less than two miles from the historic vaillage of Abbotsbury where you may visit the Swannery, Sub-tropical Gardens, Great Tithe Barn Children's farm, browse the many galleries, art & craft shops or treat yourself to a cream tea in one of the pretty cafes - after which you may like to walk up the hillside to St. Catherine's chapel for a glorious view over the surrounding unspoilt countryside and across the sea-scape of Lyme Bay towards Lyme Regis in the west or eastwards to Portland.
The hamlet is a walker's paradise, surrounded by an extensive foot-path network - the Dorset Coast Path runs along the ridge just above the hamlet.
It is 9 miles to the county town of Dorchester where you may shop, visit the museums, walk upon Maiden Castle hill-fort or visit the Roman town house or the courts where the Tolpuddle Martyrs were tried! Weymouth beach and Sea Life Cenrte is 7 miles to the east and the old rope-making town of Bridport with its eclectic shopping is 10 miles to the west.
