Potterslade Cottage Pembrokeshire is an historic farmhouse, nestled in 250 acres of private land, offering all year round luxury self-catering accommodation for families or groups of friends looking for the ultimate home from home in the wonderful west of Wales.
The property has recently been lovingly restored to its former glory, combining the best of traditional materials and craftsmanship with the best of new green technologies. The result oozes charm, quality and efficiency. Potterslade is the embodiment of ancient and modern and living proof that the best of both worlds is still possible here in Pembrokeshire.
No expense has been spared in breathing new life into Potterslade and recreating that unique sense of place that you will feel when you step inside. Potterslade reflects understated quality and a homely ambiance - yours to see and feel: traditional lime plastered interior walls; oak-beamed ceilings; oak inglenook fireplaces; multi-fuel stoves; slate floors that are warm to walk on fuelled by new technology air source under floor heating; luxury leather suites that are just perfect for unwinding and; all the best of contemporary kitchen and bathroom facilities and state of the art HD TV, DVD and WI FI technologies that you’d expect.
Step out into a timeless world and breathe in this magical sense of place. Look back on to the cottage with its date inscription and traditional lime mortar pointed exterior; look out over the old farm buildings, the cart house, the barn, the threshing barn – all remnants of a bygone era. You might even catch a glimpse of a Barn Owl in the historic stone farm buildings. Look about, or wander into the lawned areas and beyond into the surrounding meadows. Look further – it’s all yours to enjoy for as long as you stay.
Playtime is not just for kids at Potterslade but for everyone young at heart. For children, Potterslade provides ample space for safe outside play and adventure in the haggard, garden and yard which are all laid out to lawns for ball games. The smooth concrete area around the farmhouse provides a platform for scooters and trikes for the little ones, whilst the private lane and yard provide stress-free, traffic-free cycling for children a little more independent.
The private grounds at Potterslade provide acres of space for children to grow and for a 15ft diameter trampoline, a six piece swing set and every manner of ball game, including croquet.
If croquet is considered too active, then there is opportunity at Potterslade to wander the paths and take in the glorious surroundings. Or enjoy the vistas eating al fresco on the terrace, complete with 3 burner calor gas BBQs, parasols and quality patio furnishings. Or, simply sit back and drink in the glorious Potterslade sunset.
For families and groups of friends who wish to find space together or relax apart, Potterslade provides the ideal options. The property has been cleverly and flexibly configured to provide accommodation for up to 12 people and offers 6 double and twin bedrooms all with en suite facilities.
However, should you wish, the property can be split into 2 smaller completely self-contained properties (The Good Looks and Ha’Penny Pool) each with its own entrance, each with its own kitchen and with the option of opening up or closing off the interconnecting door as necessary. That’s clever!
Though Potterslade feels like a million miles from anywhere, set in its own private land, along a country lane, deep in the heart of Pembrokeshire, it is conveniently situated less than 1 mile from the historic village of Llawhaden complete with ruined castle and less than 2 miles off the A40, so just a step from all the attractions the county is famed for.

Though Potterslade is a tranquil retreat (some say truly blessed) it is hard to believe it’s less than a couple of miles off the main A40 at Canaston Bridge and a step away from all that Pembrokeshire is famed for and which has visitors coming back, time and time again.
Dip your toes in the water at the world-famous sandy beaches of Saundersfoot and Tenby. Take a boat trip to the bird sanctuary islands of Ramsey or Skomer. Explore the Pembrokeshire National Park and just wander alongside the banks of the eastern Cleddau, stopping off perhaps at Slebech Park with its high quality restaurant for brunch or tea.
Mountain bikers can take in the gorgeous woodland scenery and wildlife at the designated trail at Canaston woods – just five minutes away. And five minutes away too is the Dunes Riding Centre for horse lovers (and for days when you need a change from glorious beaches!)
Walkers are spoilt for choice in Pembrokeshire: inland (though you’re never far from the sea) you can hike the majestic Preseli mountains and on a clear day look over the sea to the Wicklow Mountains of the Emerald Isle: on the coast, pick up the famous Pembrokeshire coastal path and go north or south - the choice is yours.
Savour a day’s coarse fishing in the solace of Holgan Fish Ponds – so close it’s hardly worth getting the car out. Or, shop ‘til you drop at the renowned market town of nearby Narberth with its wealth of boutiques, bookshops, delicatessens and gift shops.
We haven’t forgotten about the kids – and it’s not just bucket and spades in Pembrokeshire! Oakwood Theme Park and Blue Lagoon are all about action-packed fun that will keep them, and you, happy for hours. Children and Folly Farm go hand in hand – whatever the weather and, along with Heatherton and Clerkenhill, offer a truly unforgettable visitor experience.
So yes, you can have it all here at Potterslade. You can do everything and take in our beautiful award-winning beaches, stunning scenery, coastal walks that take your breath away and a distinctive culture that will have you hooked. Or, feel free to do nothing but breathe in the magic and mystery of this historic property and the echoes of the past in the surrounding landscape.
