Poole Quay ...

Poole Quay is an exciting, ever-changing blend of maritime activity and a focal point for a wide range of entertainment and leisure pursuits. Pleasure craft offer trips direct from the Quay to Brownsea Island , Sandbanks and beyond, whilst anglers can book fishing trips at the Fisherman`s Quay . If you simply want to promenade along the waterfront past the visitors` marina and have a meal and a drink, then the Quayside and Old Town areas are packed with excellent restaurants, pubs and winebars offering huge variety and choice.

From the Quay, shoppers can stroll up the pedestrianized High Street, with its wide range of retail outlets and facilities. Safe Blue Flag sandy beaches at Sandbanks, Branksome and Alum Chines are just 15 minutes away by car and the natural beauty of The New Forest is approximately 30 minutes distance away. A short trip on the Sandbanks chain ferry offers the option of even more beautiful beaches skirted by sand dunes and walks in the National Trust protected Purbeck Hills.

Poole Town ...

Poole town lies approximately 6 miles west of Bournemouth and is highly accessible both by car and by train – the station is moments from the main shopping area.

For cultural events, the Poole Lighthouse theatre and concert hall offers a dazzling array of dramatic productions and music, and is home to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra . Shopping facilities in Poole focus around the Dolphin Shopping Centre and the pedestrianised High Street, interspersed with cafes and coffee shops for well-earned refreshment.

A stroll down the High Street leads visitors to Poole Quay, and the multitude of bars and restaurants offering an excellent array of culinary choice. Once replete, why not walk off lunch with a stroll on The Quay and along the harbourside path at Baiter? The beauty of Poole Town is that all of these attractions and facilities are within easy walking distance of each other. Whilst Poole Town is an excellent base for beaches and for exploring the beauty of the Dorset countryside, there is no shortage of things to do and see on its very doorstep!

Poole Old Town ...

Poole`s Georgian Old Town is steeped in history. The recently extended Museum in the Lower High Street tells of Poole’s earliest development as a port sheltered within the World’s second largest natural harbour, and of its extensive trade links with Newfoundland.

If you want to explore Poole to the full, leave your car behind and join the Cockle Trail – a walking tour of the Old Town, which tells visitors how Poole Town developed into the flourishing destination you see today.

Sandbanks ...

Internationally recognised as Britain`s playground for the rich and glamorous, Sandbanks offers fabulous beaches and stunning views across Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island with regular ferry services to the National Trust haven. The famous chain ferry across the mouth of Poole Harbour links Sandbanks to the beautiful Purbecks with dune-backed beaches, and huge areas of National Trust-owned countryside. The delights of Swanage and its restored steam railway are a short distance beyond, as are the dramatic cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Restaurants in both Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs, including Cafe Shore and Loch Fyne offer top-class cuisine, whilst for more frenetic nightlife, Bournemouth and Poole town centres are both a short drive away.

Hamworthy ...

Just 10 minutes` walk from Poole Quay via Poole`s historic lifting bridge, Hamworthy is a quieter, predominantly residential area and Harbour Reach is the latest example of regeneration in this convenient location.

The development offers some of the prettiest views of the natural harbour with Poole Yacht Club in the foreground and a wonderful vista across the harbour, to Corfe Castle and the Purbeck Hills beyond. Located close to Cobb`s Quay Marina Hamworthy is a great base both for strolling into Town, and for driving out to explore the wider Dorset region.

Baiter Park ...

A low-density development of town houses and apartments built approximately 25 years ago offering a great strategic location adjoining Baiter`s harbourside park, close to Poole Park with its scenic level walkways, and yet only 10 minute`s stroll into Old Poole and its historic Quayside.

Parkstone ...

Parkstone is a popular residential suburb situated on the slopes above Poole. From Constitution Hill, visitors can enjoy a wonderful panorama that stretches from Old Harry Rocks, across Poole Harbour, and around to the Purbeck Hills, with Poole Town nestling in the foreground. Ashley Cross, by Parkstone Station, is the cultural heart, with excellent restaurants like Patrick`s , Isabel’s and award-winning gastro pubs like The Cow , with live music available nightly at Mr Kyps . The journey into Poole town centre takes a matter of minutes by car, or just one stop on the train. Poole Park is conveniently located between the two centres.

Lilliput ...

One of Poole`s most prized residential areas, Lilliput boasts proximity to the harbour whilst sitting midway between the bussle of Poole Town and the laidback sophistication of Sandbanks, both approximately 3 miles distant. From Lilliput, the upmarket bars and eateries of Westbourne and the retail opportunities of Bournemouth are only 10 minutes away by car.

Alum Chine ...

Named after one of the charming silvanian ravines that run down to the blue-flag beaches west of Bournemouth, the area of Alum Chine is convenient not just for the beach but also for the charming shops and restaurants of Westbourne, a comfortable walking distance just to the north. Adjoining the children`s playground is the Vesuvio Italian restaurant and bar, with terraces directly overlooking the beach.
