Nether Lochaber, the area to the south of Fortwilliam, takes in the parishes of Ballachulish, Onich and Kinlochleven and encompasses wonderful mountain scenery around Loch Leven and Glenachulish, turning north up the shores of Loch Linnhe, down which there are wonderful views to the Isle of Mull. The area is rich in natural and cultural history and there is much of interest for the historian, archeologist and geologist.
In addition to the huge range of activities available in the immediate area, the Corran Ferry, 3 miles, gives ready access to the whole of Morvern and the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. The Isle of Mull and all the islands of Western Scotland, including the Hebrides, can be reached by Ferry from Oban, 1 hour by car, or in the case of the Isle of Skye, from Mallaig, 1 hour. For day trips there is also easy road access to Inverness and Loch Ness, 1.5 hours and to the whole of the Northern Highlands.
