The living room, with a wood-burning stove and a colour TV and DVD player, opens onto a conservatory and a well equipped kitchen. Also on the ground floor, off the kitchen, is a small utility area and the bathroom which has a shower over the bath.
An open staircase from the living room leads to a double bedroom through which is the access to the twin bedroom. In addition, the sofa in the living room can be converted to a temporary double bed.
The steps up to the front door and down to the kitchen mean that the cottage is not ideal for anyone who is severely handicapped.
The shared swimming pool is heated and situated in a private enclosure fifty yards from the cottage. It can be used by arrangement with the owners of Avenis Farm between May 1st and August 31st. Normal safety precautions apply and, in particular, children using the pool must be supervised by an adult. Extra bathing towels are provided.Well behaved dogs welcome. No smoking.
Address : Stable Cottage, Bournes Green, Oakridge, Stroud, Gloucestershire
Zip / Postal code : GL6 7NL
Ten miles west of Cirencester, Stroud is at the centre of the Five Valleys and at the edge of the Cotswolds. Here, the steeply wooded valleys wind their way back into the limestone of the Cotswold escarpment, providing unexpected views and woodland walks. The familiar Cotswold landscape of stone walls, rolling farmland and villages of golden stone gives way to the exhilarating high commons of Minchinhampton, Rodborough and Selsley, with views across the Severn to the Forest of Dean and the Welsh mountains beyond, while the valleys hide lakes and beechwoods. Not surprising that this is known as the 'undiscovered Cotswolds'.
Bournes Green is a small hamlet near to the village of Oakridge (about one mile away). Oakridge has an excellent village shop and a pub which serves good food. Stroud, the main town, is five miles away with an excellent farmers' market on Saturdays as well as usual shops and supermarkets.
40 minutes from the M4 (Junction 15), 15 minutes from the M5 (Junctions 11A or 13), 4.5 miles from Stroud mainline station (direct service from London Paddington)
A network of public footpaths provides walkers with easy access to the surrounding countryside.
Other villages nearby are Bisley, Eastcombe and France Lynch, all with pubs and good food.
Other local towns and villages include Nailsworth, Minchinhampton and Painswick.
Within easy reach of Gatcombe, Badminton, Tetbury, Cirencester, Cheltenham and Bath
