Details indoors:
The centre of the house is a large lounge with double-height wood-beamed ceiling, wood-burning stove and an attractive Ash staircase which winds up to the master bedroom on the first floor. There is a good-sized new modern kitchen, extending dining table that easily seats 8, and an attractive wooden dresser. The ground floor also has two twin bedrooms, one of them with a generous picture window that looks out over the terrace and through the trees towards the Ffestiniog railway. The lounge has two large sofas, one of which converts to a bed, and two comfy red leather chairs. There is also a shower room on this floor. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an attractive sloping roof, with distant views through the rooflight windows, and a modern en-suite bathroom. See note below on disabled access.
Details outdoors:
The house has its own garden with terrace, very secluded being in the middle of a private wood within Snowdonia National Park to which public access is limited to certain footpaths and to the woodland track which winds through the wood below the house. There is a ample space for parking several cars, or alternatively this house could be used without a car since despite its rural location, the Ffestiniog railway stations are not far away. The main access to the house is via an attractive driveway up from the forest track, and on the other side it has its own private footpath back down to rejoin the public routes through the woods on the other side. Maps showing the network footpaths through the woods are provided.
Note on disabled use: The accommodation is disabled friendly in the limited sense that there are two downstairs bedrooms with a shower room beside them, and the house is on the same level as the parking area; however there is a small sill across the bottom of the doorways that a wheelchair needs to be lifted across, and although one bedroom is reached via a wide doorway from outside, in general doorways are not built to wheelchair width. Long lengths of trackways in the woods have easy gradients and good width, though the surface is stony in places.

The Snowdonia National Park is well known as one of the most beautiful parts of the British Isles, with classic trips to the mountain summit and walks in the surrounding area balanced by easy access to the beaches and wonderful castles of North Wales, plus other attractions such as the steam railways and tours of old slate mines. Perhaps less well known are the rare woodlands, representing some of the only temperate rain forests in the world, with a unique natural habitat for a very diverse eco-system of both animals and plant life, delightful mountain streams tumbling down between the trees, and miles of delightful walks.
On the doorstep are miles of woodland walks, and all of Snowdonia National Park is available for trekking, rock-climbing and mountain biking. Castles of King Edward and the Welsh princes abound, nearest is Harlech, about 20 minutes drive and in a superb location. In Portmeirion's Italianate village, about the same distance (where ""The Prisoner"" was filmed in the 60s) is one of the best restaurants in Wales and dinner guests can access the village after the visitors have gone home. Visit Llechwedd Slate Caverns at Blaenau, Europe's largest pumped hydro-electric plant at Electric Mountain, and Sygun Copper Mine. Porthmadog has an attractive harbour and a market on Fridays. On foot to the Ffestiniog Railway, the tiny Plas Halt is ten minutes walk one way from the cottage, and ten minutes the other way is Tan y Bwlch, with its station buffet and train shunting. Other heritage steam railways are within easy reach including the newly re-opened Welsh Highland Railway.
