The Chapel is a beautiful 13th Century Grade 11 listed building of historical importance, that was originally a medieval hall house. It would have been the centre of the village of Manston, where locals would have carried out business, under the protection of the local chieftan. Centuries later it became a barn for the attached farmhouse.
In 2009, it was converted into a luxury 3 bedroom self catering property. It sleeps easily sleeps between 6 and 10 people, and is arranged over three floors.
The very large downstairs lounge/sitting room is approximately 40 foot long (12 metres). It has a full size pool table, a very large flat screen television, several large comfortable sofas and a baby grand piano. For those wanting more interactive entertainment, a Wii consol and playstation 2 are available for guests to use.
The windows in the sitting room show off the 3' thick walls, which are not only of architectural importance, but also keep this lovely room beautifully cool on hot summer days, and wonderfully warm on cold winter ones.
At the end of this amazing room, is a beautiful reclaimed walnut staircase, which leads up to an open plan kitchen/dining room. The dining table can easily seat 8 people, but if required could seat more. A high chair is available for the younger diner. The breakfast bar and dining suite, make for a very family friendly sociable kitchen, which is perfect for entertaining.
There is a full array of modern kitchen gadgets, including the all important dishwasher and microwave. The three full length windows in this room, accentuate the thick walls, and combined with the chandelier and beautiful kitchen, make this a truely unique room for a relaxing evening around the dinner table.
The utility room off the kitchen houses a washing machine and seperate dryer, a drinks fridge and freezer, and a most useful additional toilet.
The hallway leads you to the master bedroom. This exceptionally large bedroom with it high ceiling, contains a king size 4 poster bed and features a large chandelier. A large triple wardrobe, chest of draws and two large armchairs, set on a lucious soft burgundy coloured carpet, give this room a real feeling of luxury. Two 8' doors lead into a fully equipped ensuite shower room.
On the second floor there are two further double bedrooms, with high ceilings, exposed beams, flint walls and windows with far reaching views over the Isle of Thanet. (During WWII these bedrooms were the hightest point on the Isle of Thanet, and were used by the Home Guard as look-out posts.) Both bedrooms have an inbuilt wardrobe and 5' zip link beds, which can easily be converted into 2 2'6" single beds for those wishing to have their own space. Most importantly, both bedrooms have their own ensuite shower rooms. Each bedroom has a 22" television with freeview and a build in DVD player.
There is an additional double 4' fold away bed, as well as two single 3' portable beds. Theses additional beds can be placed in any of the bedrooms, or used downstairs in the lounge area. There is also a travel cot available on request.
There is a secluded garden at the rear of The Chapel which is a perfect place for a nice barbecue, or alfresco dining.
