Set on the River Tay, and in the shadows of Ben Lawers, Perthshire’s highest mountain, and Schiehallion, one of Scotland’s most distinctive landmarks and best-loved mountains, Aberfeldy is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Scotland.

Its location in the geographic centre of Scotland means Aberfeldy allows visitors to easily explore the region and beyond, being less than two hours from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness and the West Coast.

The local areas boasts a host of places to visit, from Loch Tay to the famous Birks of Aberfeldy, immortalised by Robert Burns, or just simply the chance to relax and enjoy the art galleries and tea shops – not forgetting a visit to the local Aberfeldy Distillery! There is a wealth of outdoor activities on the doorstep – golf, walking, climbing, cycling, sailing, boating, angling, clay target shooting, and 4 wheel drive mountain safaris. For the adventure sports enthusiast, Aberfeldy is widely recognised as the whitewater capital of the UK, with canoeing, kayaking, canyoning, gorge walking and white water rafting all available.

For a gentler pace, there are many varied and interesting gardens to visit in the area, as well as the historic Castle Menzies, where Archibald Menzies, one of Scotland’s intrepid plant collectors, started work as a gardener. Menzies made major botanic discoveries during epic vogues, including one of the most unusual trees, the monkey puzzle – a fine example of which, dating back to the mid 19th century, is to be found in Rose Cottage’s garden.

For more cultural pursuits, nearby Pitlochry is home to the famous festival theatre and Perth offers a wonderful new Concert Hall.
