The Croft, Bradwell, Hope Valley, Peak District

Bradwell makes an ideal touring base being situated in the heart of the White Peak, within easy travelling distance of both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The picturesque Lathkill and Monsal Dales are close by, together with the market towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Matlock and Matlock Bath are also in easy driving distance with the tourist attractions of Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham. If you wish for a visit to a city Sheffield and Manchester are within easy reach by car or train from Hope Station.
The tourist attractions of the Blue John Caverns at Castleton are only about 5 miles away. The Ladybower, Howden and Derwent Reservoirs, where the Dam busters did their training, are also about 5 miles away, with walks, fishing and cycle hire available.
Walking is very popular in the hills and valleys all around, with the start of the Pennine Way in nearby Edale. There are plenty of circular walks in the area ranging in lengths and ability to suit everyone. Off road cycle trails, created from old railway lines, are also available in the area.
The Peak District has good public houses, which serve excellent meals and ale. Some are dog friendly as well.
The village itself has a Co-op Late Shop, Bread Shop serving excellent sandwiches, cold meats and cakes, Newsagents and Post Office, Fish & Chip shop, the renowned Bradwell’s home made ice cream shop (seasonal opening) and various Pubs some of which serve meals, all within easy walking distance of the cottage.
