The Glen B & B, Near Shaftesbury

The Glen B & B is located in the picturesque Blackmore Vale countryside at the centre of 'Hardy Country' and half way between Shaftesbury and East Stour with beautiful views and comfortable accommodation. Near to the delightful towns of Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Salisbury and Blandford Forum it is ideal both as an excellent touring base or as an overnight stop on your way to or from the far West. We provide a warm and friendly 'home from home' and offer a wide choice for your breakfast. Children and pets are welcome by arrangement.

History
The Glen is a late 18th Century farmhouse converted ten years age to a comfortable family home and B & B. Set in beautiful Dorset countryside with views of woods, lake and fields, there is a wealth of local colour to absorb. Shaftesbury has been a busy Abbey and Market town since 900 AD and the area has many links with the past through its prehistoric remains and gracious stately homes and gardens. For those interested in the twentieth century heritage, the West Country was of course one of the busiest wartime centres and Wilton House was the headquarters of Southern Command in WW II. Arts and crafts flourish in this part of the world and there are numerous galleries and workshops to visit not to mention a vibrant performing arts scene. You will not be short of absorbing and uplifting places to visit and activities to attend whilst staying at the Glen.

Bed rooms
One twin-bedded and one double room both with en-suite shower, full size wash hand basin and toilet. Plenty of hanging space is supplied and the rooms are provided with remote control TV with Freeview & DVD player, tea and coffee making facilities, clock radio etc. Wireless internet connection can be provided for your lap top computer. We have one small room on the landing next to the main bedrooms. This can be taken with either of the main rooms for a child up to age fifteen. The room has a single bed and child friendly (Winnie-the-Pooh) decoration. A table and book-shelves are provided to make this a pleasant room for a junior guest.

Parlour
If the weather is cold the parlour is available to guests after breakfast as a warm & comfortable lounge with easy chairs. (The Glen has oil fired central heating and the bedrooms have thermostatically controlled radiators). Cards, games and books are available if you need them and local points of interest are detailed in our collection of guide books & brochures.

Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the Parlour from 7.30 until 9.30 with a choice of menus. A Full English Breakfast can be taken or a continental Breakfast is available for those who prefer to start the day with a lighter meal. Alternatively we serve a Scottish Breakfast with porridge and a kipper fillet or if you are vegetarian, menus are also available. We ask our guests to make their choice on the previous night to help us with the catering.
