The Hilary Guesthouse, Llandudno

As early as 1851 Llandudno was a thriving town that already ranked as the Queen of Welsh' resorts. Llandudno retains that title and it is well deserved. Today it is still possible to walk along the old town's wide streets and admire the elegant Victorian and Edwardian buildings. Many of them listed and carefully conserved. The Victorian pier and promenade are as popular as ever.

Llandudno has a rich and interesting heritage that dates back to the Stone Age. Take the Victorian tram up the Great Orme and hop off halfway to explore the copper mines dating from the Bronze Age the ncarry on up the Great Orme to the neolithic burial chambers. Or stroll through the back streets of the old town where you will find cottages dating from the towns farming and fishing days. Stop off for lunch at the Cocoa House where the suffragettes met to plan their campaign to win votes for women.

Or for the more adventurous there's horseriding, white water rafting, tree top climbs, coasteering, - in fact there's an endless list of things to see and do.

All this mixed with top restaurants, pubs, shops, award winning fish and chip shops and curry houses, art galleries, museusm and a top class theatre makes Llandudno a perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas including Snowdonia and Anglesey.
