The Old Post Office

The Old Post Office is a really good base to explore the Peak District - there are plenty of good walks and cycle rides from the door or you can catch a local bus to visit nearby villages without having to drive. A bit further afield there are many interesting areas to explore - the Roaches, Dovedale, Millers Dale, Carsington Water and Castleton (the famous Blue John mines) are all within half an hours drive as is Alton Towers. We keep a range of local guide books and maps to help you plan your activities and there is plenty of room in the storage area for boots, bikes and to hang wet clothing

The Old Post office is a large detached house in the village of Earl Sterndale and, sleeping 9 people in 4 large bedrooms, it is ideal for families and groups.

The property is fully centrally heated and we aim to provide everything you would want for an enjoyable stay. We try and make sure it is a real 'home from home' and duvets, linen, towels and hairdryers are provided for your use. We also provide enough of the everyday things you'll need to get you started, like tea, coffee, sugar, fresh milk, soap, shower gel, toilet rolls as well as washing & cleaning materials.

The large lounge has comfortable seating and a colour TV, DVD, CD and iPOD docking.

The separate dining room has a nice large table where 9 people can comfortably enjoy eating together.

Off the lounge is the downstairs bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room with toilet and basin. This room can be configured to either have 2 single beds or they can be zipped together to form a 6 foot superking.

Upstairs there are 3 further bedrooms, 2 have a double bed and one has 3 single beds (one is 2 foot 6 wide and the other two are 3 foot wide and can be zipped together to form a superking). The 3 bedded room has a colour TV with integral DVD player.

There is a large family bathroom with a big bath which has a shower over, plus toilet and basin. There's an additional washroom on the 1st floor with toilet and vanity unit with basin.

Outside there is a large garden with lawned areas to the side with large ornamental stones. To the rear there are patio areas with garden furniture and a boules piste.

Please note that the garden is terraced with steep steps so care must be taken, especially with children.
