Pendeen is situated on the beautifully rugged north coast of the district of Penwith, on the coast road which runs from St Ives (10 miles away ) to Lands End (8 miles away) and is a short walk from the South West Coast Path. The coast road has been voted one of the most scenic in the country. There is a wonderful sandy cove within walking distance (Portheras Cove) and there are many other secluded coves along this stretch of coast. Within a short drive you can get to the large, sandy beach at Sennen Cove with great surfing, the famous, open air Minack Theatre at Porthcurno with its nearby sandy beach, and the many other beaches surrounding St Ives Bay. The town of Penzance, which has a main line railway station and supermarkets and high street shopping, and the busy fishing harbour of Newlyn, are only 6 miles away over on the south coast. The area was once famous for tin and copper mining and many of the related buildings have been preserved as part of our industrial heritage - the area has official Heritage Status. The nearby Geevor Tin Mine museum is well worth a visit, particularly for the spectacular coastal views from the excellent on site cafe.

Pendeen village is well served by pubs - there are three within level walking distance of the property, all with eating facilities - and there are a several restaurants, an excellent fish and chip shop and a local grocery/convenience store which is open every day. Two miles further along the road the historic, small town of St Just has further pubs and restaurants and several local shops.

There is a regular, all-year round bus service between St Ives, Penzance and St Just, which stops in Pendeen, and runs up until late evening. In the summer months an open top bus service runs along the scenic St Ives/Lands End coast road, stopping in the village. The main line railway station in Penzance has local and long distance services.
