his period country house was formerly owned by Ian Gillan of rock band Deep Purple and it was he who turned the property into a hotel in the early 70's. His legacy is the distinctive guitar shaped swimming pool you see today.
The Springs has been lovingly upgraded by the current owners and nearly all bedrooms have been refurbished in modern neutral colours and benefit from modern bathroom suites.
The reception halls are elegant rooms of good proportion retaining many period features such as stone fireplaces, oak panelling and beams. Most enjoy views across the manicured gardens and spring fed lake.
The award winning Lakeside Restaurant with its tall lattice windows overlooking the lake serves a delectable menu of fine creative dishes all made with the freshest of ingredients.
Onsite facilities include golf, swimming (seasonal), sauna, croquet, fishing, mountain biking and there are some wonderful walks along the Thames Path and Ridgeway which run close by. Hot air balloon rides are offered from the hotel lawns and boat trips are available from the hotel's private Thames side mooring.
