We are situated near Hadrian's Wall, Chollerford and Chesters. Only 7 miles from Hexham and 25 miles from Newcastle. We are within easy reach of Durham, Alnwick and the Northumbrian coast. This area offers wonderful walking, cycling and bird-watching country with the added attraction of Roman Forts, Castles, lovely gardens and a lot of National Trust and English Heritage sites within easy reach.

Introduction
3 No. Self-catering cottages converted from an old church and
adjacent stable, situated in open countryside, car parking outside
cottages. The Church has two cottages, both have stairs to the upper
floor. Lonnenend has its two bedrooms and shower room/toilet
upstairs. Kirkend has its two bedrooms upstairs and a sleeping
gallery, with large bathroom downstairs. The Stable is all on the
ground floor with a step to get in.

• Local public bus service passing property has limited service. Having
own transport is recommended. Hexham train station 6 miles,
Newcastle Airport 25 miles.
• 6 miles from Hexham, 15 minutes by car,/taxi. 1 mile from Barrasford
village for nearest shop and country inn.
• Help for guests with no transport is available on request.
• Help with shopping available, local shop one mile
• Local taxi service.
• Premises are deemed suitable for all able bodied guests and for
those with hearing impairment, visual impairment and with M1
mobility. It should be noted that because of the poor local public
transport in the Chollerton area it is envisaged that visually impaired
guests will be accompanied by fully sighted companions

• Cars parking is within the property boundary and close to the
cottages. There is ample parking space.
Old Church Cottages
• Tarmac access to Kirkend and Lonnenend and gravel path access to
the Stable.
• Garden path surfaces are varied.
• Motion activated lights at night.
• We meet guests and familiarise them with all facilities.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
• Each of the cottages is unique in layout and has varied floor
coverings / surfaces.
• All general living areas have both overhead and scatter lighting.
Each house has a television and video. Note that only four channels
are available in the Chollerton area.
• Ground floor access and pass doors are wider than normal,
however bedroom doors and some others are standard modern
wide.
• Dogs welcomed in Lonnenend and the Stable, guide dogs free of
charge.
• Full audio fire alarm systems in each house together with fire
extinguishers
Bedrooms
• None are specifically suitable for wheelchair users.
• Fire alarm, just sound. If necessary arrangements will be put in place
to physically alert guests with hearing difficulties
• No TVs in bedrooms.

• Bedrooms upstairs in Lonnenend and Kirkend, ground floor in
Stable.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC
• Bathrooms are shared in each house.
• Lonnenend has a walk in shower.
• Kirkend and the Stable have showers over the bath.

• Each cottage has its own fully equipped kitchen.
• All kitchens are on the ground floor with no steps.
• All kitchens are all electric, fully-fitted, normal height and have no
adaptations.

Future Upgrades
Because of the type of conversion work carried out to develop the
unique character of each property within the existing buildings certain
structural and architectural decisions had to be taken regarding some
fundamental fittings. These include the provision of stairways within
Kirkend and Lonnenend to the upper floors which contain winding
treads or quarter landings. Within the Stable the original stall posts
dropping from the roof beams are retained and while this adds
character and does not inhibit normal circulation it could hinder
wheelchair movement within the property.
Old Church Cottages are committed to providing additional supportive
service to those guests whose mobility is limited, either temporarily or
permanently, but who have the ability to negotiate normal domestic
two storey properties.
