Hartland Forest Golf and Leisure Parc , within which the lodge is situated , is set in hundreds of acres of Forestry Commision woodland . The lodge is adjacent to the first tee of the golf course and has superb uninterrupted views over the course and to the open countryside beyond . The immediate area is home to many species of birds such as Woodpeckers and Barn Owls and otters can be seen in the nearby river . Wild deer also inhabit the adjoining woodland .

The rental charge on this property includes free membership for guests to the Penstowe Manor leisure facilities 10 minutes away at Kilkhampton where facilities include 22 metre tropically heated indoor pool , outdoor heated pool with children's pool , giant widescreen TV , sauna and jacuzzi * , indoor green bowls * , pool tables * , table tennis * , tennis court * , squash court * , badminton courts * , amusement arcade , children's play area , cabaret suite , lounge bar and restaurant .
