All are welcome at Tythebarn House. We love good food and are foodie friendly, cyclist and walker friendly, senior citizen friendly, birder friendly, traveller friendly and fly fisher friendly. The cost of a night's stay is fully inclusive of Mrs Brown's famous breakfasts, made using only the finest local ingredients.
Because we are very small, you get individual attention. Our aim is that you come as guests and leave as friends.
Guests have their own personal, ground-floor space ( we live upstairs in our delightful, converted 19th Century Westmorland barn.) You enjoy a comfortable bedroom, decorated in a cottage style, and arranged to suit your needs i.e double or twin bed; a separate bathroom with shower and WC, and your own kitchenette equipped (aka 'gin and tonic' room) with microwave, small chiller fridge and washing/drying facilities.
What our guests have said :-
"Thanks for your wonderful hospitality. Food and accommodation were excellent. Would certainly recommend to friends and family. Will be back!! : R & D Black : Edinburgh
"I came here for cycling and found this B&B. Diana and Vic have been extremely helpful. Vic knows almost everything from cycling to weather. Diana looked after me with nice food - I had a special breakfast food called potato cake. Overall comfortable, friendly and relaxed. Definately will come back" : S.F : Clay Cross "I've been visiting the Lake District for many years now and have stayed in many establishments. Tythebarn House was recommended to us by a local who had heard of their reputation.
To cut a long story short our stay was fantastic. We were greeted as if we were old friends, treated as if we were old friends and quite simply the proprietors could not do enough for us. The room was spotless and very comfortable and we had everything that we needed at our disposal.
One warning though...if you are trying to lose weight don’t go as Diana is a first class chef and whilst her cooking is heaven it is not good for the waistline. Looking forward to our next trip!!
"We came here to see the Lakes and
to trace family history. Without your
help, we would not have seen as much as we did .... we will miss Diana's breakfasts and will certainly recommend you to our friends and family"
J and T - Swansea
I have been fed, watered and made very comfortable. I am now relaxed and ready to take on the world.
Until next time - I can't wait to come again

We are a converted barn. All guest accommodation is on the ground floor but guests should note that meals are taken upstairs in our family living room, which is accessed by stairs.
The shower is over the bath, with a grab rail. We hope to change this shortly, but, for now, it is not suitable for anyone with limited physical mobility.
