Area description
Aberlady is an old village in East Lothian. Amenities in the village include a Post Office, Village Store,The Old Aberlady Inn, Duck's Restaurant, a Fish and Chip shop and a Textile Artist's Gallery & Gift shop. There is also the nearby Gosford Bothy, which is a well known local coffee and lunch destination.
From the flat you can walk across the green to Aberlady Bay Nature Reserve to see migrating wildfowl waders and seabirds. The Scottish Ornithological Society has it's headquarters in the village for birdwatching.
East Lothian is a beautiful County being a paradise for Artists and having some glorious walks for example on the sandy beaches at nearby Gullane and Dirleton. Edinburgh is only just over 20mins away by train from Longniddry with free carparking at the station.
Golfers will already know that Aberlady is very central for some of the best Golf in Scotland; Muirfield is only 4 miles away, Gullane (3 courses), Craigielaw, Kilspindie, Luffness and Longniddry are even closer. Other local attractions include castles at Dirleton, and Tantallon, Glenkinchie Whisky distillery, The Museum of Flight at East Fortune, The Seabird Centre in North Berwick and taking a boat around the famous Bass Rock to see Kittiwakes, Puffins, and the largest colony of Gannets in Europe.
