Area description
Exmouth lies at the mouth of the river Exe and has 2 miles of golden sand with dunes to explore. A nature resrve spreads across a large part of the estuary, and is home to many birds and other wildlife. It is also at the start of the Heritage Coastal Path, a coastal and cliff top walk that takes you all the way to Lyme Regis. From Exmouth a short ferry ride will take you to Starcross and Dawlish where you can walk to Powderham Castle and waterside pubs. The town has a wide variety of shops and an indoor market. There are a number of parks in and around the town. There are numerous sporting activities you can enjoy during your stay. Watersports include windsurfing, kite surfing, jet ski, wake boarding and water skiing. Exmouth has a railway station, and a short ride will take you to the city of Exeter with its many attractions. The airport at Exeter is about 8 miles by car.
