Ancrum near Jedburgh is in the heart of The Borders renowned for its turbulent history, fishing, rugby football, golf, beautiful unspoilt countryside and warm fiendly people. The Border towns are unique and each has its own character and are famous for their Common Ridings and some have ruined abbeys to explore.
Ancrum village has a friendly pub, The Cross Keys, serving good beer and food and an well stocked village shop with post office, both an easy stroll from the cottage. Locally there is excellent fishing, golfing and walking,cycling and horse riding. Harstanes Visitor centre with woodland walks, cafe and large childrens play area is within walking distance. The beaches and castles of Northumberland are within easy driving distance and Edinburgh is within one hour's drive to the north and Hadrian's Wall to the south.
