The cottage, which is open to the rafters, has a galleried bedroom overlooking the large living room, in the centre of which is a log burner standing on a stone plinth acting as a focal point It also has a five piece suite in the quality bathroom. It is larger than the average four person cottage.
The cottage has extensive exposed beams and stone-work. The cottage is 300 yards up the owners' private drive and form part of a courtyard facing outwards over the surrounding fields and dales to give excellent views and some degree of privacy. The cottage has its own patio with spectacular uninterrupted views over hills and dales for several miles. To the side of the cottages is a large grassed and garden area. There is ample area for off-road parking.
TheTV service offers full sky programmes (including sky sports and sky films) and wi-fi. There is a second tv in the bedroom area. In the cottage there are nine(!) highly organised information folders, partly written by the owners themselves who are lovers of the Peak. Guests have heaped praise on this source of information which ensure that even those who have stayed with us numerous times still find plenty new to do. Events lists are supplied in advance between May and September. Housekeeping and attention to detail is regarded by the owners, who strive to encourage return visits, as being of paramount importance as is their concern is to ensure guests have an excellent holiday. The owners constantly strive to improve standards and services offered, for example, and this is merely an example, good condition bicycles can be hired directly from the cottage at one half of the cost charged by commercial operators. The cottage is that popular that in 2009 it only had 6 empty days, none of longer than one nights duration, in other words simply gaps between bookings. It has not had an empty week in over 5 years.
In the rentals charts a couple of sampe rentals have been given, highest and lowest. Please contact the owners for other weeks. Rentals include heating electricity linen and logs.

There are two wild flowers meadows at Cotterill Farm, one of which borders a nature reserve through which a footpath leads after just over a mile to the Rive Dove (at Wolfscote Dale). One mile downstream along a good riverside path is Dovedale, the most famous area of the Derbyshire Peak District. The cottages are located off a quiet country lane between the highly popular village of Hartington and its smaller, quieter neighbour, Biggin. Both villages have pubs serving full meals cafes and a church. There is also an excellent restaurants about a mile away. Biggin has a lovely Hall where excellent cream teas are sold.
Numerous footpaths surround the 12 acres of Cotterill Farm,, offering unrivalled walking in the best part of the White Peak. The highly popular Tissington Trail, which runs for 17 miles, is used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and is less than 1 mile from us. Two further trails, the High peak trail and the Manifold Valley trail (both of roughlysimilar distance), are within 3 miles. These three tracks are ideal for family cycling, as is the network of quiet minor roads, which can be accessed at numerous points along the trails. Sustrans route 54 passes within yards of Cotterill Farm.
Buxton , Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek and Chatsworth House are all about 11 miles away on the edge of the Peak District at different points on the compass, confirming the owners claim to be very much in the heart of the White Peak, this being the area of the Peak District of rolling hills, dry stone walls villages and dales (The Dark Park is mainly moorland)There is an enormous amount to do in the area, almost certainly more within say 30 minutes drive than anywhere else in the UK.
