The cottage is a converted stone barn once used by the cistercian monks who had a grange farm here in 1170. There are original features including an exposed stone wall in the master bedroom and original A frames in the single bedrooms and the lounge.Large corner stones can be seen on the outside of the property as well as irregular stone masonry.There is also an ancient stone watering trough by the farm gate.
The cottage sits at the head of The Melindwr Valley and enjoys uninterrupted views of this beautiful valley with only the sheep red kites, buzzards and many other birds to numerous to mention to interrupt the view.

There are many things to do in the surrounding area with direct access to Nant Yr Arian Visitor Centre where the daily feeding of The Red Kites is a must plus many varied walking routes and also 38 kilometres of mountain bike riding all on the same site.
The area has many other beautiful unspoilt uncrowded areas to walk including Plynlimon in the Cambrian Mountains and The Hafod Estate,the Rheidol and the Cambrian Coastal Path.
Devil's Bridge five miles away is a spectacular attraction and the Rheidol Railway also runs from here to Aberystwyth from Easter to the end of October.
Ynyslas beach is 20 minutes drive and offers a huge unspoilt wide sandy beach where even on Bank Holiday there is plenty of room to play paddle or just walk the dog.

There are several local hostelries offering real ale and good food if you fancy having a night off from cooking although a welcome pack is provided so that first cup of tea can be enjoyed whilst deciding which activity to do or which book to read first.
The kitchen is fully equipped to make preparing meals easy whilst the dishwasher means there is even more time to relax.
All bedlinen and towels are provided.
The log burner can be used for those chillier nights and logs and kindling are supplied.
The pace of life here is up to you.
