Steele's Mill Self Catering Kings Meaburn Penrith

A newly-restored corn mill sits in a quiet, idyllic setting on the banks of the River Lyvennet. The Mill has stood on the present site since at least 1327 and every effort has been made to preserve its history, including retaining the original mill workings such as mill stones, applewood cogs and mill gearing. The three storey building has been sensitively restored by local craftsmen using local materials. Steele's Mill is family run with a friendly welcome and service. An ideal base for an active outdoor holiday or the perfect retreat away from the rat race.

We have full licensing as a wedding venue and for corporate events, private stays and parties. Our residential accomodation is available for small as well as larger groups. Historic 14th century Duns Castle is situated in the heart of the rolling hills, fields and forests of the beautiful Scottish Borders on the edge of the little market town of Duns. We have total seclusion although shops bars and restaurants are within walking distance. The family of Hay have owned the Castle since 1696, and along with their dedicated staff welcome guests to their home. The castle retains a very intimate and personal feel, in spite of its historic grandeur and furnishings. The quiet professionalism of the staff make guests immediately welcome and comfortable. The main Castle sleeps up to 23 and there are ancillary cottages sleeping up to a further 25. Groups of up to 60 may be seated to dine in the Great Hall. There are ample grounds for marquees, sporting and leisure activities. Cobbler’s Cottage was originally a workshop for a cobbler’s shop which was on the High Street in Pateley Bridge.It is positioned centrally in the historic courtyard, Kings Court and is in easy reach of local amenities, local attractions and walking countryside. It is a two bedroomed self catering cottage which has up to date, modern accommodation which is of a very high standard whilst retaining the ‘cottagey’ feel of the property
