Discover Exmoor

Picture this: rolling hills covered in purple heather, ancient woodlands straight out of a fairy tale, and dramatic coastlines that’ll take your breath away. It’s not just pretty as a picture, though – Exmoor’s got plenty to keep you busy.

\For the walkers among you, there are miles of footpaths to explore. The South West Coast Path offers some cracking views of the Bristol Channel, while inland trails such as the Coleridge Way will lead you through charming villages and past babbling streams. Foodies won’t be disappointed either. The local pubs serve up hearty grub that’ll set you right after a day of exploring. And don’t forget to try a cream tea – just remember, in Devon it’s cream first, then jam (don’t let the Somerset lot tell you otherwise).

For stargazers, Exmoor’s a real treat. It was the first International Dark Sky Reserve in Europe, which basically means the night sky is so dark you can see the Milky Way with your naked eye. It’s proper impressive, that.

Now, if you’re looking for a lovely Exmoor holiday cottage, Birch Cleave Barns offer dog-friendly, adult-only Somerset cottages that are just the ticket. And here’s a bonus – they’ve got stabling too, so you can bring your horse along for the ride. Talk about the perfect base for exploring Exmoor!
